Purpose / About:

Mission Statement:

Preserve, protect and promote the health of the residents of Grundy County

Health Department consists of five Divisions:

Mental Health Division:

  • Programs to serve clients with substance and alcohol abuse
  • Programs available for adolescents and 60 plus individuals
  • Counseling
  • Med monitoring
  • Med management
  • Crisis intervention
  • Psychiatric services

Nursing Division:

  • Child, Adult Immunizations, TB Testing
  • Pregnancy Testing
  • Medicaid application assistance
  • Vision & Hearing Testing
  • WIC -   Women, Infant and Children supplemental nutrition program
  • FCM -   Family Case Management
  • TPS – Teen parent Services
  • Communicable Disease Surveillance
  • School Nursing
  • Referral

Environmental Health Division:

Provides 3 of the 4 Essential Functions that are mandatory under the Local Health Protection Act:

  1. Potable water
  2. Private sewage
  3. Food sanitation

Other Programs Include:

  • Plan Reviews
  • Nuisance investigations
  • Tanning
  • West Nile Virus
  • Tattooing and body piercing
  • Smoke Free Illinois

Administration Division:

  • Office Manager: maintains, updates personnel records, IT coordinator, BOH secretary, payroll.
  • Book Keeper: grant tracker, prepare monthly claims, monthly financial report, overall knowledge of other departmental billing, track expenses and revenue, billing, date entry, fiscal reporting.

Seniors Division:

  • Residential Home Repair (a grant helps to reimburse up to $500 to assist seniors)
  • Medication Management
  • Flexible Community Services
  • Community Care Program (CCP)
  • Home Delivered Meals
  • Flexible Senior Services
  • Information and Assistance
  • Family Caregiver Resource Center and Information/Assistance (CRC)

    3. Caregiver training
