The allocation of property tax extensions to the various types of taxing districts is pictured in the diagram below.  The largest share, 58.31%, is claimed by schools.  Next to schools are municipalities with 16.27% of extensions.  Counties, park districts, other special districts, community colleges, sanitary districts and townships follow in that order.
