Grundy County Waste Reduction Grant Program
A very limited amount of funding is available to eligible parties to reduce solid waste and recycle.
Grants of $100 to $500 will be available to schools and school groups, businesses, units of government,
institutions, and not-for-profit organizations.
Examples of fundable projects include:
- purchasing recycling containers or compost bins
- purchasing recycling processing equipment
- educating students, residents or others about waste reduction
- conducting special clean-up projects or recycling events
- purchasing reusable items to replace disposables
- implementing a materials reuse project
- improving the appearance of waste and recycling collection areas within public view.
The purpose of these grants is to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills by providing organizations
with the financial and technical assistance they need to undertake recycling projects.
Materials targeted by the grant program include: paper, plastics, glass, metals, appliances, electronics,
used motor oil and filters, tires, batteries, paint, construction and demolition debris, fixtures, auto parts,
yard waste, and food waste. Assistance will be available to grant applicants in preparing and implementing
projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a school or school group to fund an extra project.
If you want to discuss your project idea, have questions, or want to obtain an application, please contact the
Office of Solid Waste Management at (815) 941-3214.
