Russ Baker joined the Grundy County State’s Attorney’s Office in the spring of 2021 as an Assistant State’s Attorney where he continues to serve the public as a distinguished prosecutor.

Assistant State’s Attorney Baker completed his undergraduate training at Elmhurst University in 1985 graduating with Bachelors of Science Degrees in Economics and Finance.

He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from Northern Illinois University School of Law in 1988 and achieved admission to the Illinois State Bar that same year.

ASA Baker Retired in December of 2019 from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office after over 30 years of service prosecuting every type of violent felony, with a concentration on Homicides. Mr. Baker also had distinguished tours of duty in Financial Crimes, Public Integrity, and Unsolved/Cold Case Homicide Units within the Special Prosecutions Bureau of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
