The Grundy Transit System has resumed service as of Tuesday, May 26th, 2020. Dispatch hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and service hours (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) will remain the same.
We will continue to follow guidance from the Grundy County Health Department and state and local governments, and practice social distancing on the buses. We require face coverings to protect yourselves and others. We will update this page and adjust our service decisions as new information becomes available.
Please do not board the buses if you are ill. If you display signs of illness, such as coughing, fever or shortness of breath, you will be denied rides until you are healthy again.
Grundy Transit System Mission Statement
The Grundy Transit System enables our residents to live
Independently, participate in the community, contribute
to society, and enjoy an enhanced quality of life.
The Grundy Transit System provides public Transportation for ALL Grundy County Residents. We provide service anywhere in Grundy County. We also provide service to Joliet three (3) times each day. In Joliet, we provide service for much of the west side including, government offices in the downtown area, Union Station, and both Joliet Jr. College locations, the Main Campus and City Center Campus.
Service is provided Monday thru Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with our last pick-up at 5:30 p.m.
Due to the volume of rides we have been providing, we ask that all riders call a minimum 48 hours in advance to schedule rides. We want to make sure everyone can get to where they need to be at the time they need to be there. Without the two day advance scheduling, we cannot guarantee the rides.
We know that at times someone needs a ride the same day they are calling for medical care, etc. In the event that this happens, we will do everything we can to fit the ride into the schedule, although we can’t guarantee that we can fit people in.
Dispatch phones are answered from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Our phones are very busy, so please leave a message if you cannot get through or are calling outside our regular dispatch hours.
To schedule your ride, please call our dispatch office 48 hours in advance at 1-888-786-0862.
