Welcome to the Land Use Department!
As a fairly new addition to the many fine departments of the county, we have adopted this goal as we serve the residents of Grundy County:
To promote a safe, healthy, balanced community that preserves our natural resources and educates our residents to continue this pursuit for future generations of Grundy residents.’
The Land Use Department has three offices to serve Grundy County’s needs. The Environmental & Resource Conservation Office, the Building and Zoning Office and the Planning Office are the fabric that makes up our Land Use Department.

Children's Used Book Collection June 1, 2017 through July 5, 2017
Children’s Used Book Collection June 1 through July 5
The Grundy County Land Use Department’s Environmental, Resource and Conservation Office will be collecting used children’s books for Bernie’s Book Bank starting June 1 through July 5, 2017 at our Administration Building located at 1320 Union Street, Morris, IL 60450 from the hours of 8-4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Practicing one of the four Rs is reuse. Children’s books that are no longer being used can find their way into the hands of a child who is need of a book. Studies have shown that reading is the most important skill a child needs to learn. However, studies also show that 61% of low-income families don’t have any children’s book for their families.
Our partner for this event, Bernie’s Book Bank, has since 2009 collected over 4 million children’s books. Bernie’s Book Bank will provide at least 12 books per year for each child that they serve. For Grundy County our goal is 1500 books again this year!
Let’s break the statistics that prevent young minds from reaching their given potentials by donating your used children’s books for preschool through 6th grade for this worthy cause. Please do not give text books or workbooks.
Thank you Grundy County for your great partnership!
